What They SaidLuke 12:7

I Control Every Picture Now

This message is for the reader carrying one remark somebody made about a photograph of her, who has controlled every picture she appears in ever since

Somebody said one thing about a photograph and you have run the camera ever since.

Not obviously. You are not the woman who refuses to be in pictures. You are the one who is always slightly involved in how they happen. You offer to take it. You suggest a different spot. You ask to see it, and if it is not right you say so lightly and somebody takes another.

And if one gets out that you did not approve, it stays with you for days.

You would call this being particular. It is not being particular. It is a watch that has been running for years, on one perimeter, and it costs you a small amount of energy in every single social situation you enter.

Let me put the plain thing first. You have not been careless with any of this. You have gone at the thing itself for years, in ways nobody who hands you their phone has any idea about, and you have gotten up again every time. Somebody who did not care would let the pictures happen.

So this page is not going to tell you to let go of control. That is an instruction and this is a wound, and instructions do not reach wounds.

I want to show you a verse about how thoroughly you are already known.

What the watch is protecting

Consider what the camera work is actually for, because it is not vanity and calling it vanity has kept you from seeing it.

It is information control. There is a version of you that lives in an image, and it has been judged worse than the version people meet, and years have gone into preventing the first one from being distributed.

Underneath that is a belief with a shape: that a photograph knows something about you that people do not.

You have been guarding information that was never new to anybody, and no photograph has ever once known something about you that God did not. Luke 12:7 says the very hairs of your head are all numbered, and the Holy Spirit is the one who makes a verse about being known arrive as safety rather than as exposure.

And notice the exhaustion in it. The watch never gets to stand down, because there is no such thing as the last photograph. Every gathering has a camera in it now. So a perimeter that could once be held with occasional effort now requires vigilance in every room you walk into.

You have been holding a perimeter that cannot be finished, and no amount of vigilance has ever once been able to complete a job like that. The written word says the hairs of your head are all numbered, said as a comfort about God's attention, and the Spirit of God is the one who makes a job that cannot be finished able to be set down.

The very hairs of your head

Jesus says it in the middle of telling people not to be afraid.

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7, King James Version)

The hairs of your head are all numbered. That is not a poetic exaggeration and it is not surveillance. It is the least significant detail about a person, named as counted.

And the sentence He builds on it is fear not. He does not say you are being watched carefully so behave. He says the level of attention on you is so complete that fear is unnecessary.

You are known at the level of a hair, and there has never once been a detail about you that was withheld from Him. Luke 12 makes total knowledge the reason for fearlessness, and the Holy Spirit is the one who lets a woman experience being fully known as safety rather than as risk.

And notice what that does to the photograph. There is no version of you in any image that constitutes new information. There is nothing a lens can find that is not already counted.

You have nothing left to be discovered, and no lens has ever once found something that was not already counted. The Spirit of God is the one who makes total knowledge feel like being covered rather than being caught, and the written word says fear not therefore, built directly on the counting.

Let one stand

Now the part I came to say, and it is one picture rather than a policy.

Let one picture stand. Today. One that somebody takes, that you do not ask to see, that you do not manage, that you do not check afterward.

Not all of them. Not a new approach to photographs. One.

You are able to let one stand without changing a policy, and no single photograph has ever once required a decision about all of them. The written word says the very hairs of your head are all numbered, which settles the question of what can be discovered, and the Holy Spirit is the one who makes one small release possible where a general one would fail.

And here is why one is enough to matter. The watch runs on the belief that each image is a risk. One image that was not managed, and after which nothing happened, is a direct contradiction of the belief, and beliefs are contradicted by instances rather than by arguments.

You have a way to contradict the belief rather than argue with it, and no argument has ever once been what changed a thing like this. The Spirit of God is the one who makes one instance carry more weight than a year of reasoning, and Luke 12:7 is the written word underneath it, where the hairs are numbered and the conclusion drawn from it is fear not.

The breakthrough

So here is what I believe is going out over somebody reading this.

You are known down to a hair, and no lens has ever once found something that was not already counted. I am not decorating that. Luke 12:7 says but even the very hairs of your head are all numbered, and it is the Holy Spirit and not my telling who takes a line like that off a page and puts it at a family reunion with somebody else's phone in it.

And then this, which is the word I came with.

You have nothing left to be discovered, and total knowledge has never once been the same thing as exposure. The Spirit of God is the one who makes being fully known feel like cover rather than risk, and the passage is the written word underneath it, where the counting of hairs is the reason given for fear not.

You do not have to change your habits today. That was never the assignment. Let one picture stand.

Declare this over yourself

  1. Remark somebody made about a photograph of me, you are not running my camera. Luke 12:7 says the very hairs of your head are all numbered, so by the Holy Spirit you direct nothing here, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Belief that a picture knows something people do not, you have no basis. The word says fear not therefore, and by the Spirit of God I am done holding a perimeter that cannot be finished.
  3. Father, I am known down to the hairs and nothing about me is a discovery. Your word says the very hairs of my head are numbered, so by Your Spirit I let one picture stand today, and then I go and get something to drink.
